When I was 10 months old my parents saved my life by spotting a rare childhood cancer in my eye a retinoblastoma. If they hadn't detected the white spot and lack of sight in my right eye and rushed me to Moorfields Eye Hospital the cancer could have blinded me and spread to other parts of my body. After my right eye was enucleated special arrangements for all my new prosthetic eyes as I was growing up and my mother would make special visits to my primary school if my eye ever fell out.
